Your Sins Will Catch Up with You Sooner or Later
just ask my relative Prince Albert Hunt
Both sides of my family tree have some interesting branches. Prince Albert Hunt is one of them.
My mother had told me most of Prince Albert’s story before I found an article about it in the Dallas Morning News archives. My mother remembers playing some of his records as a child. According to my mother, Prince Albert is the origin of folk/blues singers saying “yeehaw” in their songs.
My grandmother, a cousin or possibly second cousin of Prince Albert Hunt, was ashamed to admit her connection to him after the notoriety of his death, but apparently thought enough of him to keep his records which my mother enjoyed playing.
A trailer for a film about Prince Albert can be viewed at the following link: Prince Albert Hunt trailer. According to the website Folkstreams, “Ken Harrison, Dallas filmmaker, made this film in 1974 as an experiment in using Super 8mm film for television production.”
Prince Albert was also included in the Anthology of American Folk Music (Social Music, Dances №1, Band 30) by Harry Smith according to an article by Christopher C. King in the Oxford American.
