To Do or Not to Do

Recently, a group of sixteen friends in Florida gathered in a crowded bar to celebrate one of their birthdays. They did not rush out against strong advice to the contrary. None of them knew anyone who had contracted the Coronavirus and their city’s mayor and their state’s governor had said it was safe so they did not think they were taking a risk. But at the bar, they were up close to many people all night.

No one at the bar was wearing a mask. They partied, had fun, and within a few days all sixteen friends tested positive for Coronavirus as did some of the other customers at the bar that night.

When the friends decided to go to the bar for the party, they did not realize that they were making a major life or death decision.

Three of the friends appeared on CNN on June 17 and spoke with Chris Cuomo. They warned others that despite what it may seem, the time is not right to go out and be around lots of people, especially without a mask. They felt as though they had made a foolish decision to go to a crowded public place during a pandemic.
