Waco did feature prominently in the 1920s Texas Klan. There have been a number of books written about the KKK, but my focus was the WKKK. The women who became the Dallas WKKK were supporting the Klan politically before the WKKK was formed in 1923. Alma B. Cloud, who was the head of the Dallas WKKK, was also the head of the WKKK in Texas and was the Vice President of the National WKKK. Hiram Evans, the head of the Dallas KKK became the leader of the national KKK.
There has been only one book written about the Women of the Ku Klux Klan, by Katherine Blee, but she wrote about the WKKK in Indiana. I want to write a book based on my dissertation, but have not been able to due to teaching full time. I need time to concentrate on writing it I could send you a copy of the introduction to my dissertation if you are interested.
