Writing and publishing one’s work is a rash undertaking. To assert that we can write something that will matter to our readers is a bold undertaking.
Each time we write a post, we make that assumption. No one is writing on Medium for their own reading pleasure, else they would write in a journal.
Most of us Medium writers are trying to find readers who will listen to what we say, who may benefit from what we write, who may connect with us in some cosmic way.
Even if one does write in a private journal, unless they plan to burn it, they anticipate that someday, someone will find it and read what they wrote. That their life contained in those pages mattered and will have an effect on some random future reader.
And this is important: We should keep our reader in mind when we write.
We likely have multiple purposes in our writing: to entertain, to inspire, to persuade, to…
