Don’t Be Like Me

I have been struggling to write for some time. It’s been a while since I published a new article, or any articles at all. For a long time, I would spew out an article on occasion, but I don’t believe that many, if any, of my articles added much, if anything at all, to the general conversation. A few got a readership, but it was small. It’s been quite a while since I published anything new on Medium. I may have spewed out an article on occasion, but I don’t believe my articles added much to the general flow of conversations on Medium.

My mind is empty, as clean as a whistle, as clean as a baby’s bum right after a diaper change. I trawl around my brain looking for a thought, for an idea, for a good story, even a worn out cliche, but all I find is dust, and empty candy wrappers, and an empty Starbucks cup or two or five.

I’m sure there’s something in there that I must have to say that will benefit others, but though I scour my brain, I find nothing, not even a leftover bit of fluff after the last time I had, not only a thought, but an actual message to share with my readers, or so it seemed at the time.

I walk around the spotless empty room of my mind hunting for a topic, an idea, a thought, a string of words that will appear in sentence form, an…
